Exeter Man Jailed for Sending Sexual Messages to Teen Girl
A 41-year-old man from Exeter, Steven Thomas, was locked up for over two years after being found guilty of sending sexual messages to a girl aged 13-15. The shocking abuse dragged on for two years before the truth came out.
Two Years and Four Months Behind Bars
Thomas was sentenced at bristol-crown-court" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="Bristol Crown Court">Bristol Crown Court on 5 October. He received two years and four months in jail for causing and inciting the girl to engage in sexual activity.
Aside from his prison sentence, Thomas must also comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a notification requirement for the next 10 years, keeping him under strict legal watch.
Victim’s Bravery Praised
The vile offences came to light after the victim, from Taunton, bravely came forward. Detective Sergeant Louise Findlay from Operation Bluestone highlighted the girl’s “strength and resilience” throughout the investigation.
PC Shannon Eyres, the lead officer on the case, was also praised for delivering outstanding support and care to the victim, ensuring justice was served.
