Man jailed for 12-and-a-half years following a diligent Met investigation into his campaign of sexual abuse against two children

Artur Seberger, 53  of no fixed address, was sentenced after pleading guilty to 15 sexual offences against children.

The offences took place between 2005 and 2022. The two victims, who were known to him, were aged between 10 and 16 at the time of the offences. The individuals came forward to police in July 2024 and officers launched an immediate investigation.

Seberger was arrested on Tuesday, 9 July 2024 and re-arrested on Monday, 22 July 2024 after breaking his bail conditions and harassing the victims.

He was convicted of 15 counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual activity with a child, attempting to assault by penetration and causing a child to watch a sexual act.

Seberger was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday, 22 January having previously pleaded guilty to the offences at the same court on Tuesday, 7 January.

Detective Constable Callum Boast, Public Protection South East, said:

“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the victims in this case, who have been extremely courageous in coming forward to police and recounting the trauma of the years of abuse they suffered because of Seberger.

“Officers acted quickly following the victims serious reports, and following Seberger breaching his conditions were able to remand him in prison offering additional protection to his victims. Over six months the team compiled numerous witness statements and third party evidence to create a compelling case which prompted the defendant to plead guilty avoiding a trial.

“It cannot be underestimated the impact, both physical and mental, such sustained abuse will have had on the victims, and I hope the sentence will give them some sense of closure and peace.”
