On February 1, cops spotted a suspected stolen car in Chippenham. Patrick McCann, 34, from Walnut Avenue, Hillingdon, was behind the wheel. What erupted was a frenzied chase that tore through to Lacock. The runaway vehicle smashed head-on into a Volkswagen Transporter mid-pursuit.

Teen Girl Severely Hurt in Smash

One passenger in the Transporter, just 14 years old, suffered serious injuries in the crash. She was rushed straight to Southmead Hospital for emergency treatment.

McCann Faces Multiple Criminal Charges

At Swindon Crown Court today (March 20), McCann pleaded guilty to a string of offences:

  • Failing to stop for police
  • Causing serious injury by dangerous driving
  • Driving whilst unfit
  • Driving whilst disqualified
  • Escaping lawful custody

McCann remains behind bars ahead of his sentence hearing set for May 29. This reckless joyride has left a young girl fighting for her recovery and a driver staring down serious jail time.
