Cat Shot with Air Gun Pellet in Shocking Attack
Luna, a black and white cat, returned home on 11 December with a horrifying injury. Vets discovered an air gun pellet lodged in her head. Thankfully, they removed it successfully, and Luna is now recovering.
Heartbreaking Incident Just Before Christmas
Inspector Keith Hogben said, “This air gun attack is very concerning. Our thoughts go out to Luna and her owners during this heartbreaking time just before Christmas.”
He added, “Luckily the pellet was removed non-surgically and Luna is now doing well at home.”
Owner Speaks Out: ‘Sickening to Target a Pet’
Luna’s owner, Martyn Nash, expressed shock at the cruel attack. “It is sickening that someone could do that to a pet. Luckily Luna is doing well and seems okay. We just don’t want this to happen again to her or any other animals.”
RSPCA Urges Locals to Help Catch the Culprit
RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information about the attack in the Whitland area. Inspector Hogben warned:
“Cats and wildlife are often the targets because they roam outdoors unprotected. Sadly, air rifle attacks aren’t as rare as we’d hope. These weapons cause horrific pain and injuries that are often fatal.”
“Anyone caught using an air gun to harm an animal faces up to six months in prison and/or a £20,000 fine under the Animal Welfare Act.”
