Shocking sex abuse saga hits the headlines as six men face over 60 horrifying charges against one woman. Among them is her ex-husband, accused in a chilling case stretching more than a decade.

Ex-Husband Philip Young Faces 56 Sick Offences

Philip Young, 49, formerly of Swindon and now in Enfield, stands charged with 56 offences. These include numerous counts of rape, drugging for sex, voyeurism, plus possession of indecent and extreme child images.

The victim, 48-year-old Joanne Young, bravely waived her right to anonymity. She is receiving specialist support but has insisted on being named publicly. Authorities are urging respect for her privacy at this difficult time.

Philip Young remains in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court on 23 December.

Five Other Men Also in the Dock

  • Norman Macksoni (47) of Sharnbrook – charged with rape and holding extreme images.
  • Dean Hamilton (47), no fixed address – faces rape, sexual assault by penetration, and two counts of sexual touching.
  • Conner Sanderson Doyle (31) of Swindon – charged with sexual assault by penetration and sexual touching.
  • Richard Wilkins (61) of Swindon – accused of rape and sexual touching.
  • Mohammed Hassan (37) of Swindon – charged with sexual touching.

All five have been released on bail but are expected at court alongside Philip Young on 23 December.

13 Years of Abuse Uncovered

The crimes reportedly spanned from 2010 right up to 2023, revealing a disturbing 13-year timeline of abuse.

Detective Superintendent Geoff Smith said: “This is a significant update in what is a complex and extensive investigation. The victim, Joanne, has taken the decision to waive her automatic legal right to anonymity. She has been supported by specially trained officers throughout and made this decision after multiple discussions with support services.”

James Foster, Specialist Prosecutor, Crown Prosecution Service, added: “We have authorised prosecution for all six men following a thorough police investigation into serious sexual offences against Joanne Young. Our evidence is sufficient, and it is in the public interest to proceed. We have worked closely with Wiltshire Police throughout.”
