Man on Trial for Louise’s Murder Visits Crime Scene
Shane Lee Mays, 30, from Somborne Drive, Havant, stands accused of killing Louise. Her body was found in Havant Thicket woodland on May 21, weeks after she disappeared on May 8. An intense search failed to find her until then.
Jury Takes Field Trip to Key Locations
Judge, jury, prosecution, defence lawyers, police, and security were all present as the trial pressed on. Last week, Mrs Justice Juliet May DBE explained to the jury that they would visit crucial sites linked to the case, including where Louise’s body was discovered in Havant Thicket.
Today, jurors toured the locations but were sternly warned not to discuss the case at the scenes.
Strict Covid Measures and Courtroom Return
Mrs Justice May instructed the jury, “We are effectively taking the court to the location. Jury members should bring their masks though they will remain socially distant.”
After the site visit, the jury returned to court to wrap up for the day. The trial will resume tomorrow with more evidence.
