Shock as Julia James Beaten to Death While Walking Dog
Julia James, 53, was savagely attacked and killed while walking her beloved Jack Russell, Toby, in the peaceful countryside near Snowdown. The jury – eight women and four men – reached their verdict on day six of the trial held at Canterbury Crown Court.
Brutal Attack in Ackholt Wood
Prosecutor Alison Morgan QC laid it bare in her closing statement: “This defendant was an angry, violent, strange, highly sexualised man.” She made it clear that mental health offered no defence for the horrific crime.
Callum Wheeler, 22, faces sentencing on July 8. Prosecutors revealed that on April 27 last year, Wheeler lurked in Ackholt Wood near Aylesham, poised to attack. He was seen multiple times roaming near the location, carrying the railway jack used to bludgeon Julia.
