Man Jailed for Stabbing Friend After 30-Year Feud
Colin Hinds, 38, drove nearly five miles to attack a long-time acquaintance in a brutal early-morning assault. The bitter dispute exploded on August 10, 2020, leaving the victim stabbed and fighting for life.
Brutal Attack in Marine Parade
The incident happened at around 5.30am near Marine Parade, close to Seager Road junction. After exchanging vehicles, Hinds suddenly stabbed the victim twice — once in the stomach and once below the left armpit.
As the victim collapsed, Hinds chillingly declared, “This is how I roll,” before speeding off in his car.
Threats, Witness and Arrest
- Hours before the attack, Hinds repeatedly threatened his victim via a mutual friend.
- A bystander witnessed the stabbing and rushed to help the victim, who was later flown to a London hospital.
- Four hours after the assault, Hinds called Kent Police admitting he had done “something terrible” and was arrested that same morning.
Police Praise Quick Justice
Detective Constable Kara Sweetland said: “There can be no doubt that Hinds planned to seriously harm his victim and it is only down to good fortune that he did not kill the victim. Travelling to the scene armed with a weapon clearly shows his offending to be cowardly and premeditated.”
“There is no place in society for anyone who carries or uses a weapon, and I’m glad this investigation has taken him off the streets.”
Hinds, from Manor Road, Queenborough, pled guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon at Maidstone Crown Court. On August 2, 2021, he was sentenced to two years and eight months behind bars.
