Man Thrown Into Air After Van Mounts Pavement in Shocking Hit-and-Run
A man in his 20s was violently struck by a van while walking along Burnham Road with a young child on Tuesday, 22 February 2022. The incident happened at around 5.15pm when the van mounted the pavement and hit the man, sending him airborne. Horrifyingly, the van then sped off, failing to stop at the scene.
Victim Hospitalised, Child Unharmed
Emergency services rushed to the scene. The man was taken to hospital with multiple injuries that were thankfully not life-threatening. The child with him escaped without any injuries.
Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Kent Police are hunting the driver responsible and are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately. They are especially keen to hear from motorists who were in the area and may have dashcam footage, as well as residents with private CCTV cameras.

Suspect Arrested and Released Pending Investigation
Just a day after the crash, a 38-year-old man from Eltham, London, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision, and driving while unfit through drugs or alcohol. He has since been released pending further investigation.
