Teen on Provisional Licence Nabbed After High-Speed Police Chase in Kent

An 18-year-old from Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, was arrested after a dangerous driving spree in Edenbridge, Kent. The young driver, holding only a provisional licence, sparked a dramatic police pursuit on Thursday, 27 March 2025.

Fuel Theft Sparks Early Morning Police Chase

Kent Police were called just after 7:40am to reports of a suspicious vehicle on Station Approach, near Edenbridge train station. The car was linked to a fuel theft incident.

Officers spotted the vehicle on Stangrove Road. When signalled to stop, the driver ignored commands and raced off, triggering a high-speed chase through the local area. The pursuit ended when the car was forced to stop on Smiths Lane, Crockham Hill.

Knuckle Duster Found in Vehicle

After the driver’s arrest, police searched the car and discovered a knuckle duster inside. The deadly weapon was seized as evidence.

Charges and Investigation Underway

The 18-year-old suspect faces charges including dangerous driving, theft, and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been released on bail while inquiries continue.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Officers responded swiftly to reports of a suspicious vehicle linked to a potential fuel theft. The suspect was pursued and detained after failing to stop for police. A knuckle duster was recovered during a search of the vehicle. Enquiries are ongoing, and the individual has been released on bail.”

Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Officers urge anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage from the Station Approach or Stangrove Road areas around the time of the chase to get in touch.
