Hit-and-Run Horror in Romford: Driver on the Run After Serious Crash

Police hunt hit-and-run driver after motorbike rider left seriously injured in Romford collision.

Detectives are urgently seeking witnesses following a nasty collision on Oldchurch Road, Romford, last Thursday evening.

At 6:45pm on 28 November, a Mini smashed into a motorcycle at the junction with Crown Drive. The Mini driver sped off, heading west toward Dagenham Road, leaving the rider hurt and stranded.

Motorcyclist Rushed to Hospital

Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service (LAS), rushed to the scene. The 42-year-old motorcyclist was taken to an east London hospital with serious injuries. Thankfully, his condition is not life-threatening.

Arrest Made But Investigation Continues

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving uninsured. He was taken to a local police station but has now been released under investigation.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

The Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command want anyone who saw the crash or caught it on dash cam to speak up. They’re also hunting for a dark-coloured Mini with possible front-end damage and the front number plate missing. The car may be parked nearby, on or off the street.
