Chaos in Maidstone as Fire Extinguisher-Wielding Man Smashes Up Town Centre

A 23-year-old bloke has been arrested after going on a wild rampage through Maidstone town centre, smashing the windows of multiple businesses – including a busy Sainsbury’s – with a fire extinguisher.

Fire Extinguisher Thrown at Police During Dramatic Foot Chase

The madness kicked off just before 8pm on Sunday, 11 May, when police were flooded with emergency calls reporting widespread criminal damage around Romney Place and King Street.

The suspect allegedly used the fire extinguisher as a weapon, smashing large windows at Sainsbury’s before wrecking other local shops. When officers confronted him, he reportedly hurled the extinguisher at a marked police car, causing damage.

A foot chase followed, with officers quickly catching the man in the town centre.

Rapid Police Action Nets Suspect

“Within minutes, officers were at the scene where it is alleged the fire extinguisher was thrown at them and damaged a police vehicle. After a short pursuit, the 23-year-old man was detained and taken into custody,” confirmed Kent Police.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the damage bill is expected to run into thousands of pounds.
