Emergency services scrambled this afternoon after several people reportedly fell from cliffs within the Battle of Britain Memorial grounds in Kent. The dramatic incident unfolded around 1.30pm amidst fierce high winds.
Man Falls Taking Selfie
Police, fire crews, South East Coast Ambulance Hart Teams, Coastguard rescue units, and the Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance rushed to the scene following reports a man fell while taking a selfie at the cliff edge. Images captured two men dangerously close to the drop just moments before emergency teams arrived.
Rescue Efforts Underway Amid Rough Conditions
Specialist rescue teams from Kent Fire and Rescue, alongside coastguard units from Dover and Folkestone, are actively working to recover those involved. Scene of crime officers and detectives were also seen arriving to investigate the incident further.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a concern for welfare this afternoon and continue to work closely with partner agencies.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has been approached for comment as the search-and-rescue operation continues.
