No Charges After Alleged Bournemouth Pier Sexual Assault
A 20-year-old man from London will face no criminal charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl near Bournemouth Pier. The alleged attack took place along the seafront on the evening of Friday, July 19.
Victim Decides Not to Proceed
Dorset Police confirmed the teenage girl has chosen not to pursue the case. As a result, all charges against the man have been dropped, and he has been released without further action.
“Following detailed enquiries carried out by officers, the arrested man has been released without charge and will face no further action. Officers liaised with the victim to provide support, and she does not wish the case to proceed at this time. Our enquiries have concluded, but we will consider any new lines of enquiry should they emerge,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.
Community Concern and Continued Support
The incident caused shock in the local community. Bournemouth West MP Jessica Toale expressed her sympathy, saying: “It was a horrendous incident affecting the young girl, and my thoughts are with her and her family.”
Despite the case being closed, Dorset Police have stressed their ongoing commitment to supporting sexual assault victims and investigating any new evidence that may come to light.
