New CCTV Footage Released in Hunt for Lucy McHugh’s Killer
Fresh CCTV footage of murdered Southampton schoolgirl Lucy McHugh has been unveiled, shedding light on her movements before the tragic stabbing. The 13-year-old was found dead in woodland last month, and police are desperate for answers.
Lucy’s Last Known Movements Captured on Camera
The footage shows Lucy walking past a convenience store on Wimpson Lane at 9:06am, then near Southampton General Hospital on Coxford Road at 9:22am. She was next spotted at Tesco Express on the corner of Lordswood Road at 9:28am.
The crucial mystery remains: what happened to Lucy between then and 7:45am the following morning (Thursday 26 July), when her body was discovered near the Sports Centre?
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Superintendent Paul Barton said: “These CCTV images show Lucy walking purposefully towards the General Hospital shortly after leaving her home in Mansel Road East.
“Maybe you saw Lucy on your way to a hospital appointment but didn’t think much of it. Perhaps you spotted her near the hospital or after she passed the Tesco Express.
“A number 17 bus passed Lucy near the hospital. Were you on that bus? Did you see her afterwards?
“It’s never too late to come forward. Your information could be the key to finding Lucy’s killer.”
