High-Speed Police Chase Ends in Orchard Abandonment!
On Monday 12 September 2022, a driver in a Mitsubishi Shogun sparked a dramatic police chase through Cliffe Woods. Cops on Town Road flagged him down between 2.40pm and 3pm, but he refused to stop. Instead, he sped off, weaving dangerously along narrow country lanes and overtaking a lorry and a car in a reckless bid to escape.
Dangerous Pursuit Through Countryside
The chase hurtled through Higham Road and Cooling Road before the driver veered off-road into a field. The Mitsubishi was later found abandoned in an orchard, with no sign of the driver. Police scrambled a helicopter to join the search.
Suspect Caught and Released
Officers soon found and arrested a 37-year-old man from Rochester on suspicion of failing to stop and dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail pending further investigations.
