PM Boosts Global Trade Push with New Envoy Appointments
Three MPs Reappointed to Key Trade Roles
The Prime Minister has shaken up his Trade Envoy programme today, reappointing three MPs to keep pushing Britain’s global trade agenda.
- Rt Hon David Mundell MP remains Trade Envoy to New Zealand.
- Heather Wheeler MP continues as Trade Envoy to Cambodia & Laos.
- Laurence Robertson MP keeps his role for Angola and Zambia, now adding Ethiopia to his patch.
Fresh Face for UAE Trade
In a surprise move, Gareth Johnson MP has been appointed as the new Trade Envoy to the United Arab Emirates, a vital trading partner for the UK.
Why Trade Envoys Matter
Trade Envoys act as Britain’s commercial champions abroad. They help British firms seize new opportunities, promote the UK as the top spot for investment, and play a key role in the government’s “level up” mission across all regions.
With these latest changes, the programme now boasts 35 parliamentarians covering a whopping 65 global markets.
Joining Forces for UK Business
The Envoys will work hand-in-hand with the Department for Business and Trade’s worldwide network. Their goal: smash down trade barriers and turbocharge UK exports and investment in their markets.
It’s all part of the government’s plan to make Global Britain a powerhouse on the world stage.
