Four Arrested Over Shocking Murder of John Avers in Dagenham
Police have made a breakthrough in the murder investigation of 47-year-old John Avers, whose life was tragically cut short in Dagenham.
Vehicle Stop Leads to Arrests
On Friday, 18 September, at around 11.30pm, officers from Kent Police and their London counterparts pulled over a vehicle on the A2 near Gravesend. A man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently held at a north London police station.
Two women were also detained on suspicion of assisting an offender but have since been released under investigation.
Second Murder Suspect Apprehended
The following day, Saturday 19 September, police arrested a second man, aged 58, in Southend-on-Sea. He remains in custody at an Essex police station as inquiries continue. John’s family have been informed of the developments.
How John Avers Lost His Life
Officers were called to a car park in Whalebone Lane South at 11.43pm on Sunday, 13 September, following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
Paramedics and police rushed to the scene where John was found critically injured. Sadly, he died shortly after despite their efforts.
A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death was multiple injuries.
