Knife rampage and car attack outside synagogue in Manchester leaves four injured
Chaos at Heaton Park Synagogue
Four people were hurt when a car was driven into a crowd during a stabbing spree outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue in Crumpsall, Manchester, on Judaism’s holiest day.
Armed police rushed to the scene this morning after reports of a knife attack on a security guard. Moments later, a vehicle sped into bystanders, leaving four injured.
The attacker, believed to be a man, was shot by police firearms officers at 9:38am. His condition is currently unknown, but he is thought to be alive.
Major Terror Alert Declared
Greater Manchester Police activated PLATO—the national protocol for marauding terrorist attacks—at 9:37am, signalling the severity of the incident involving both stabbing and car assault.
Police were called at 9:31am after a member of the public reported witnessing a car being driven towards people and a stabbing,” GMP said. “Shots were fired and paramedics are treating four injured victims with stab wounds and injuries from the vehicle.”
Residents are urged to avoid the Middleton Road area as emergency services continue their operation.

The North West Ambulance Service has deployed multiple units to the scene. “Our priority is swift medical help for those affected,” they confirmed.
