Ian Hislop Targeted in London Cab Shooting

Ian Hislop, editor of the satirical magazine Private Eye and star of BBC’s Have I Got News For You, was caught up in a terrifying gun attack during rush hour in central London on Tuesday. A shot was fired at the black cab he was travelling in, shattering the rear window.

Shot Fired Near Private Eye Offices

The alarming incident took place on Dean Street, close to its junction with Oxford Street and near the Private Eye offices. The cab driver told police they were stationary in heavy traffic when the bullet hit the vehicle’s rear window.

Miraculously, neither Hislop nor the driver was injured.

Police Launch Urgent Investigation

The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called at 10:10am following reports of a firearm discharge on Dean Street in Westminster.

“The driver of a London black taxi reported he was stationary in traffic when a shot was fired towards his vehicle, striking the window. There were no injuries. An investigation has been launched,” said a police spokesperson.

No arrests have been made yet, and police are keeping an open mind on the motive behind the shooting.
