Man Arrested for Rape in Broad Daylight on Isle of Wight

Shock on the Isle of Wight as police arrest a man in connection with a suspected rape in broad daylight. The chilling incident unfolded yesterday afternoon in Ventnor.

Attack at St Catherine’s Church Yard

Police swiftly set up a cordon at St Catherine’s Church after reports of a serious sexual assault on a woman. The 35-year-old suspect, from Sandown, was snapped up on suspicion of rape following the attack in the church yard on Church Street.

Investigation Ongoing

The alleged assault took place at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, 18 June. A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson confirmed:

“Officers are investigating following an incident which took place in the church yard on Church Street, Ventnor at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, 18 June. A 35-year-old man from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He is currently in police custody.”

Police continue to appeal for any witnesses or information to come forward as the investigation progresses.
