Sheep Targeted in Shocking Attacks at Alver Valley Nature Reserve
Police are probing two disturbing attacks where sheep were hurt after objects were thrown at them at Alver Valley Nature Reserve in Gosport.
First Incident Sparks Police Call
Officers were alerted shortly after 3:30pm on Tuesday 30 April, responding to reports that objects had been hurled at the animals around 1pm that same afternoon. Three individuals were spotted near the scene at the time.
Second Attack Leads to Arrests
The troubling attacks continued on 1 May, with a second report of objects being thrown at the sheep just before 5:45pm. Police attended quickly and have since arrested six youths on suspicion of animal cruelty and criminal damage. The suspects include one 12-year-old boy, three 13-year-old boys, and two 14-year-old boys. All remain in custody.
Community Urged to Help Catch Culprits
“Alver Valley Nature Reserve draws many visitors, especially on nice days. Did you see what happened or notice anyone acting suspiciously? Please call 101 and help us catch those responsible,” said Sergeant Katie Clift from Gosport’s Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Officers have been patrolling regularly, engaging with local schools and groups to reassure the community and push the investigation forward.
