Kent Police Crack Down on County Lines Drug Gangs
Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team have been honoured for their fierce fight against the spread of crack cocaine and heroin. The officers were celebrated at the High Sheriff Awards held at the Corn Exchange, Rochester on 17 March for smashing drug networks and protecting vulnerable youngsters caught up in gang crime.
High Sheriff Praises Police for Life-Saving Work
John Weir JP, the High Sheriff of Kent, made a special award to the team saying: “I am recognising their efforts not only to combat the flow of drugs into Kent but also to protect the young and vulnerable who become ensnared by such gangs.” He added, “Having spent time on the ground with these officers, I have no doubt this award gives them well deserved recognition.”
Chief Constable: ‘Message to Offenders – Not Welcome Here’
Chief Constable Alan Pughsley praised the team’s tenacity. “Dismantling the networks responsible for bringing class A drugs into our county is a top priority for Kent Police,” he said. He described how the team “changes lives every day” and sends a clear warning to criminals that illegal drugs and dealers won’t be tolerated on Kent’s streets.
Detective Superintendent: Fighting Crime and Protecting the Vulnerable
Detective Superintendent Shaun White highlighted the team’s dual mission. “Arrests and seizures are daily business, but we’re also dedicated to helping the most vulnerable, including young people exploited to sell drugs,” he explained.
He added they were “very grateful and honoured” to receive the special award from the High Sheriff of Kent. It’s a bold boost for their relentless efforts to wipe out class A drug supply chains in local communities.
