Animal Rescue Hit by Brutal Theft and Vandalism – Urgent Help Needed!

Hard Work Wiped Out by Heartless Thieves

For months, The Animal House Rescue have been slaving away on an exercise field. They’ve cleaned up, cleared back overgrowth, and prepared the site for a sensory garden and an extension to the emergency overnight dog kennel and feral cat cattery. Alongside this, they’ve tried to arrange a caravan on-site for carers staying overnight with animals.

They’ve scrimped, saved, and begged for items to make it happen. But their spirits took a huge hit a few months ago when the original caravan was stripped and left a ruined shell. The outpouring of public support has been amazing, helping them source another caravan, safely stored for now.

More Theft Sparks Security Overhaul

Just when they thought things might improve, cruel thieves struck again. Burglars broke into a stable, cut off the lock, and stole all the metal storage bins—vital equipment for the rescue. Since these two robberies, the charity spent £3,000 installing a pair of 10-foot-high gates to keep out intruders and protect their hard-earned gear.

Dangerous Fence Breach Puts Dogs’ Lives at Risk

Then disaster nearly struck again. Lin, a volunteer, took all ten dogs for a run on the field. She noticed a huge gap where fencing once stood, leading straight to a busy lane used by speeding drivers. Thankfully, Lin managed to herd the dogs away before any could escape – it could have been a deadly accident.

She then discovered that all the metal fencing, including heavy-duty dog and cat panels, had been stolen, leaving a massive hole in the perimeter. Without proper fencing, they can’t safely move the caravan onto the field or take in emergency animals.

Charity Calls for Urgent Help

The Animal House Rescue is desperate for a fencing contractor to help secure the field again. With fundraising crippled by Covid-19 restrictions, their funds are dangerously low.

“It’s heartbreaking – every time we take one step forward, we get knocked two steps back,” a spokesperson said.
