Tractor Mounts Pavement to Avoid Car, Hits Two Women in Helmsley
A tractor towing a manure trailer swerved onto the pavement and struck two women in Helmsley, Yorkshire, on Wednesday lunchtime at around 12:30pm. The driver reportedly slammed on the brakes to avoid a car that suddenly stopped on Bridge Street.
Woman Airlifted After Serious Injuries
A local witness revealed, “Bridge Street is still closed. A helicopter came earlier to take a woman to hospital.” One of the women was even trapped underneath the tractor after the collision.
Emergency services rushed to the scene. Police believe the tractor’s sharp brake to avoid the car caused the manure trailer to mount the pavement, hitting the pedestrians.
