Family Pays Moving Tribute
“Mike was the beloved uncle of Sandra in Canada and Michael and Helen in the Netherlands. Born in Pickering in June 1928, he was evacuated to Canada during the war.
After National Service, Mike sailed the North Sea and Arctic as a radio engineer on trawlers. Settling in Chelmsford, he enjoyed a long, successful career with Marconi and was an active member of the IET, serving as Honorary Secretary.
Right until the end, Mike loved science and technology. He was always tinkering with a new project, eager to take things apart and improve them. Mike will be deeply missed.”

Mike’s family thanked Essex Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit and the paramedics who responded. The police are continuing their enquiries and urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them via the Essex Police website, Live Chat, or call 101 quoting incident 415 of 22 July.
