Tragedy at Brighton Pier: Man Drowns in Shocking Incident
Coastguards were scrambled at 5:40pm on Friday, July 30, after reports of a person in the water near Brighton Palace Pier.
Rescue Efforts Launched
Shoreham Lifeboat ALB was launched instantly, and a coastguard helicopter from Lydd joined the search.
Despite their efforts, the man found in the water was rushed to Royal Sussex County Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Friends Mourn, Family Struggles
“We are shocked and saddened by hearing that our esteemed friend Mr Birol Gündoğdu tragically drowned at Brighton shores,” said close friends.
“He leaves behind a wife and a baby. They face not only heartbreak but financial hardship.”
