Knife Attack in Shared House Shocker!
Intruder Stabs Resident in Shared Home
Mahjoub El Hamri, 52, with no fixed address, let himself into a shared house on Beaconsfield Road at lunchtime, October 16, 2021. Despite no longer living there, he used a key to get inside, planning to use the showers and grab lunch.
Violence Erupts in Communal Kitchen
Things quickly turned nasty when El Hamri clashed with a resident in the kitchen. The 36-year-old victim faced a furious attack as El Hamri threw items around and made threats. Then, things went from bad to worse.
El Hamri pulled a large kitchen knife from a drawer and stabbed the man in the upper arm, causing a deep 5cm wound that needed surgery.
Fleeing the Scene and Court Justice
El Hamri fled in his car, which was caught on CCTV leaving the area. Police later stopped him on the A23, arrested him, and he was held until his trial at Hove Crown Court on March 1.
He pleaded guilty to wounding without intent and was jailed for 14 months.
Victim Shows Forgiveness
“This was a violent, unprovoked attack in the victim’s own home, after El Hamri had entered uninvited,” said Investigating Officer Rose Horan.
“Even though this was a distressing incident for the victim, he expressed a wish at court to forgive the suspect, who was unknown to him. He was fortunate not to have suffered permanent nerve damage to his arm.
I would like to thank him for his bravery and support in helping bring El Hamri to justice, alongside everybody who helped with the investigation.”
