A vile sex offender was caught red-handed watching indecent abuse videos on a train from Stafford to London. David Johnson, 35, was spotted by a shocked passenger on September 23, leading to his swift arrest and jail sentence.

Passenger’s Sharp Eye Leads to Arrest

Moments before his arrest, Johnson was seen messaging someone, asking, “What kinds of videos do you like? I have all kinds.” He received a chilling reply: “Just kids videos.” A passenger sitting behind him noticed the exchange and the horrific footage Johnson was viewing. British Transport Police were alerted after the passenger moved to another carriage. Officers awaited the train’s arrival at London Euston station and arrested Johnson on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.

Shocking Evidence Found on Johnson’s Phone

Police seized Johnson’s phone, discovering an indecent image of a child set as the wallpaper. While in custody, Johnson even tried to get his phone back, claiming he “needed to delete some stuff.” Further investigation uncovered nearly 200 indecent images, including 105 Category A pictures—the most serious kind. Disturbingly, messages also revealed Johnson believed he was talking to a 13-year-old girl and had arranged to meet her for sex. The child, however, did not exist.

Heavy Sentence and Tough Restrictions

Johnson pleaded guilty to six counts of making indecent images of children, two counts of attempting sexual communication with a child, and arranging or facilitating a child sex offence. This month, he was locked up for two years and three months at Inner London Crown Court. In addition, he received a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will stay on the sex offenders’ register for a decade.

Detective Constable Victoria Lowth praised the passenger, saying, “The quick thinking and courage of the man who saw Johnson’s phone meant that we were able to quickly arrest him and uncover the scale of his offending.” “Behind every image and video Johnson owned is a vulnerable child that has been exploited and abused. He is clearly a danger to children and has rightly been handed substantial jail sentence.” “We will always do everything we can to make the railway a hostile place for criminals, especially those targeting children.”
