70-Year-Old Man Collapses Chasing Suspected Burglar in East London

Police and paramedics rushed to High Street North, E12 at 8.30pm on Friday, 3 January after a 70-year-old man was found in cardiac arrest. The London Ambulance Service treated him on the scene before rushing him to hospital in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses say the elderly man was chasing a suspect believed to have tried to break into a home on Plashet Grove, E6 just before he collapsed. His brave attempt to stop the burglary took a terrible toll.

Investigation Ongoing, No Arrests Made

Police have yet to make any arrests. Enquiries are continuing as officers piece together what happened. The man remains in hospital, with his condition still unknown.
