Tragic Crash Claims Young Life in Canterbury
Lucy Billingham, just 18, has been named the victim of a deadly car crash at the Old Gate Inn roundabout on the A2050 New Dover Road in Canterbury. The smash happened at around 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, December 3. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but sadly declared Lucy dead at once.
Other Passengers Survive, Suspect Arrested
The car carried five people in total. Four others were taken to hospital with injuries thought to be non-life threatening. Police arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by reckless driving.
Friends Mourn ‘Kind Angel’ Lucy
Heartbroken friends flooded social media with tributes. One called Lucy a “kind angel,” while another wrote:
“Life’s too short honestly…one minute you have someone and the next they’re gone and vanished in thin air. Be proud you’re still here, waking up every day, because my god has lost so many people this year and in the last couple of years that it’s getting harder and harder everywhere you look. RIP Lucy, you’ll always be 18.”
Lucy’s untimely death has shocked the local community, highlighting the tragic cost of reckless driving.
