Child Rapist Nabbed Thanks to Sharp-Eyed Cop Spotting His Walk
A vile child rapist, 39-year-old Shane Nash, was arrested after a police officer noticed his unmistakable walk. The arrest happened on January 31 in Top Valley’s Muirfield Road, where Nash strolled with two mates. The officer, driving a marked patrol car, immediately recognised Nash by his distinctive gait.
Horrific Attack Caught on CCTV, Police Circulate Footage
Just two days before his capture, Nash brutally raped a teenage girl in a dark alley near Rise Park. He grabbed her and made chilling threats. CCTV caught key moments of the attack, and police quickly released footage to the public in a high-profile appeal to catch the predator.
Matching Clothes and DNA Seal Nash’s Fate
After spotting Nash, the officer noticed he wore the same clothes and distinctive grey trainers shown in the CCTV. Police searched Nash’s bag and found a black beanie and red sleeping bag, items the victim had described. DNA evidence linked him directly to the crime.
Despite mounting evidence, Nash denied all charges until his March court appearance, where he pleaded guilty to one count of rape and one of attempted rape.
Life Sentence for Nash as Police Praise Officer’s Quick Thinking
Nash was handed a life sentence, with a minimum of 15 years behind bars. He is now on the sex offenders’ register for life.
Detective Inspector Craig Hall of Nottinghamshire Police said:
“This was a horrific crime that devastated the victim and her family. I want to commend the victim for her courage and dignity throughout. Nash showed no remorse and denied the offence, even when evidence was overwhelming.”
DI Hall also praised the arresting officer and her colleague, plus the entire police team for their dedication in bringing Nash to justice.
