Massive Blaze Erupts in Thornton Heath Near Tesco Car Park
Smoke billowed thick and fast from a building on Parchmore Road at around 10 a.m. this morning (Wednesday, January 18), sending locals into a panic.
Basement Fire Sparks Major Emergency
Eyewitnesses spotted plumes of smoke pouring out and rushed to alert the fire service after hearing a basement was ablaze. Concern grew when a resident went unaccounted for, with a caller saying, “I knew the people who lived there but wasn’t sure if they were home.”
Huge Response from Firefighters
The London Fire Brigade deployed six fire engines and around 40 firefighters to tackle the blaze in Thornton Heath. An LFB spokesperson urged residents to steer clear of the scene. “If at all possible, please avoid the area. More information will be forthcoming,” they said.
