Lucky Escape for Driver After Smash with London Bus

A car driver had a narrow escape after crashing into a London bus in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Drama on Jenkins Road

Emergency services rushed to Jenkins Road at around 12.30am on May 1 after reports the car sped in from a side road and collided with the side of a bus in service.

Paramedics, police, and fire crews from the London Fire Brigade worked swiftly to free the trapped driver and passengers from the bus. The driver of the car suffered injuries but was released by fire crews. The bus driver was trapped but managed to escape without injury after crews broke open the fire exit.

Road Closed, Investigation Underway

The Met Police have shut Jenkins Road in both directions while their traffic command (SO15) investigates the cause of the crash. Firefighters also dealt with a hazardous liquid leaking onto the road from the bus.

A number of people involved have been taken to hospital for treatment. The Met Police have been contacted for comment.
