B&Q Reopens 61 Stores with Strict Social Distancing
B&Q has swung its doors open at 61 stores this Saturday, but shoppers must follow strict social distancing rules. The DIY giant closed all locations at the end of March, though customers could still click and collect. Now, pick up the paint and tools you need – safely.
Safety Measures Keep Customers and Staff Protected
Stores are kitted out with perspex screens at tills and clear two-metre floor markers. Long queues outside ensure only a limited number of shoppers get in at once. Staff wear gloves and masks, and trolley handles come with cleaning wipes before and after use.
“They are only letting in a few people at a time, keeping people 2 metres away from each other and the staff have gloves and masks on. They also give you cleaning agents to wipe down the trolley handle before and after use! They are doing a great job! I think buying plants to do a bit of gardening or paint to do some DIY at home isn’t an issue. We all need to keep our minds and ourselves active during this time,” said one happy shopper.
B&Q Among Essential Retailers Allowed to Open
Hardware stores are on the government’s list of essential retailers allowed to operate during lockdown. While some question why DIY stores need to open when we’re told to stay home, many welcome the chance to tackle home improvements.
