Dartford Crossing Toll Deadline Looms Amid Chaos
Motorists who used the Dartford Crossing between July 27 and August 14 must hurry up – the extended Dart Charge payment deadline is almost here. If you don’t have a Dart Charge account, you have until August 15 to pay the crossing toll.
Account Holders Get Extra Time… But Act Fast
If you already hold a Dart Charge account, the deadline to update your card details and revalidate has been pushed back to August 31. Normally, payments must be made by midnight the day after crossing. Miss that, and you risk a fine.
System Glitches Spark Payment Delays
The deadline extensions come after serious technical problems hit the Dart Charge website from July 28 to 30. Users struggled with login issues, huge online queues, and long phone waits. When the site finally came back online, new bugs wiped account balances, failed to record journeys, and even removed local resident permits.
A Dart Charge spokesperson said: “We apologise again for the inconvenience, which was due to essential system updates.”
“While some minor delays may still be experienced, average online wait times are now under five minutes.”
Don’t Get Stung – Pay On Time!
The extensions aim to give everyone a fair chance to settle their charges. Motorists are urged to act fast and avoid fines. The Dartford Crossing is a key transport link – sticking to the payment rules keeps traffic flowing smoothly.
