Amber and Mia Veacock from Exmouth, Devon, have been left orphaned after their parents died just weeks apart this year. Their father, retired Royal Marine Lieutenant Colonel Gary Veacock, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack aged 56 in January. Just weeks later, their mother Heidi Veacock died in early March, aged 58, following a battle with neuroendocrine cancer.

Fallen Royal Marine Husband

Gary Veacock had recently retired after 38 years of service in the Royal Marines. His sudden death came as a shock to his family and the local community. At the time, daughter Amber described him as “larger than life – full of love, laughter, and warmth,” praising his role as an “incredible husband and amazing dad.”

Loss Of Mother After Cancer

Just weeks after their father’s passing, Amber announced their mother Heidi had died at home on 1 March, surrounded by family. Heidi’s death followed a long fight with neuroendocrine cancer and carcinoid disease, leaving the family devastated. Amber expressed gratitude for the support received during this challenging time.

Community Rallies With Fundraiser

A GoFundMe page set up by family friend Damon Booth has raised nearly £36,000 to support Amber and Mia following the loss of their parents. Damon described Gary and Heidi as “kind and gentle,” saying their love and kindness live on through their daughters. The fundraiser is intended to help cover costs and allow the sisters to spend funds as needed.

Daughters Message Of Thanks

Amber and Mia have requested no flowers, instead encouraging donations to the fundraiser to assist them during this difficult period. Damon confirmed that the support reflects how loved Gary and Heidi were within their close-knit community.
