Car Crashes Into Famous Angus Steakhouse in Haymarket – Chaos Erupts
Emergency services rushed to the iconic Angus Steakhouse on Haymarket Tuesday evening after a car crashed straight into the restaurant, trapping diners inside. The smash happened just before 7pm, throwing the bustling area into chaos during prime dinner time.
Crunch at Coventry Street
Multiple frantic calls reported a vehicle veering off the road and smashing into the steakhouse. Police, London Ambulance Service, and the Fire Brigade arrived swiftly to free those trapped and treat the injured.
Haymarket was immediately shut to traffic, with bus diversions in place as emergency teams worked at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Three Taken to Major Trauma Centre
A spokesman for London Ambulance revealed:
“We were called at 6:52pm about the incident on Coventry Street. We sent three ambulance crews, an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic, a fast response medic, and London’s Air Ambulance. Three patients were treated on scene and all were rushed to a major trauma centre, two as priority cases.”
Police Confirm Injuries and Ongoing Enquiries
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said:
“Police were called at around 6:50pm after reports of a car mounting the pavement at the junction of Coventry Street and Haymarket, smashing into a building. Two people – a pedestrian and a passenger – were taken to hospital for treatment. The driver was not seriously hurt but was hospitalised as a precaution. There are no other serious injuries reported. Road closures remain in place as enquiries continue.”
