Chris Kaba Shooting: Police Homicide Probe Takes Big Step
The investigation into the fatal shooting of Chris Kaba, 24, by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) in Streatham Hill is intensifying.
Police Fire Single Shot After Car Chase
Kaba, recently released from a four-year prison term, was involved in a police chase after refusing to stop in Streatham. An automatic number plate recognition camera flagged the vehicle he was driving, linking it to a recent firearms incident. Kaba was not the car’s registered owner.
During the attempt to stop the vehicle, an MPS officer from the specialist firearms command fired one fatal shot.
IOPC Opens Homicide Investigation
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched a homicide investigation after reviewing the evidence. Their team is still gathering details but stressed that the probe being criminal doesn’t automatically mean charges will follow.
The IOPC has informed Kaba’s family about the latest developments.
Call for Calm and Respect
The IOPC urges the public to avoid speculation out of respect for Kaba’s family and all affected by the tragedy.
