Railway Embankment Blaze in Swanscombe Sparks Major Fire Response
A large fire broke out near a railway embankment close to Ebbsfleet International, demanding a swift and hefty response from firefighters.
Four Fire Engines Called to Tackle Flames
At 7pm on Wednesday, crews were scrambled to Stanhope Road after a train passenger spotted thick smoke and flames near the tracks. Kent Fire and Rescue quickly dispatched four fire engines and two officers to the scene.
Lengthy Hose Run to Reach Tough Blaze
Firefighters faced a challenging task, running 25 lengths of hose along the railway embankment to douse a blaze roughly 20 metres wide. Network Rail Land Sheriffs joined in to help secure access for the crews.
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Four crews and two officers attended an area of rail embankment alight near the tracks in Swanscombe. One area approximately 20 metres in size was alight. Firefighters used one hose reel to put out the fire.”
The quick action helped prevent further spread near the busy rail line, bringing the blaze under control without causing major disruption.
