A woman was assaulted with a mysterious glue-like substance stuck to her door at Riverside Court, Orpington, triggering a major emergency response this Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at around 9.55am on January 23. Emergency crews found the woman with head injuries at the scene. She reported that a sticky chemical had been maliciously applied to her front door.
Fire Brigade Sweeps Building, Evacuates Flats
The London Fire Brigade quickly performed a full sweep and evacuated four flats as a safety precaution. Thankfully, they confirmed the substance posed no hazardous risk to residents.
Suspect Arrested, Investigation Ongoing
Police arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. He remains in custody as detectives continue probing the incident.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 9.55am after a woman reported she had been assaulted and that a glue-like substance was put on her door in High Street, Orpington. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended, and the woman was treated for a head injury. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson added: “Firefighters were called just before 10am for a chemical incident. They conducted a sweep, evacuated four flats, and the situation was resolved by 11.44am.”
