Woman in her 70s Severely Injured in Shocking Waitrose Car Park Crash

Dorset Police rushed to the scene after an 18-tonne lorry smashed into a pedestrian in Waitrose’s Cheap Street car park on Thursday, 29 October 2020.

Serious Collision Sparks Emergency Response

The 12.08pm collision involved a large MAN HGV and a woman in her 70s from Sturminster Newton. She was swiftly taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with injuries believed to be life-changing.

Police Hunt Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

PC Donal Doyle of the traffic unit urged anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage to step forward. He said:

“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I would ask for any witnesses to please come forward.”

“If you were in the car park at the time and have dashcam fitted, please check your footage. It might help our investigation.”

“Thank you to the public for your patience during the road closures needed for emergency response and scene examination.”
