M20 Shutdown Tonight as Operation Brock Contraflow System Gets the Chop!

Full M20 Closure Between Maidstone and Ashford

National Highways is shutting the M20 for several hours tonight to remove the hated Operation Brock contraflow system. The London-bound carriageway will close from junction 9 (Ashford) to junction 8 (Maidstone), while the coastbound side shuts from junction 7 (Maidstone) to junction 9 (Ashford).

The closure kicks off at 8pm on Tuesday, 22 April and everything should be back to normal by 6am on Wednesday, 23 April. This overnight window aims to keep disruption to a minimum by avoiding peak travel times.

Follow Diversion Signs – Forget Your SatNav!

Fully signed diversions will be in place during the works. Drivers are warned to trust the road signs over their SatNavs, which might not show these temporary changes.

Goodbye Operation Brock, Hello Normal M20 Traffic

Operation Brock was the emergency traffic system designed to keep the M20 flowing during cross-Channel chaos. Its removal signals a return to normal traffic conditions on this vital artery linking London with Dover and the Eurotunnel.

National Highways will update drivers if any changes to this overnight plan arise. For the latest updates on Operation Brock and the M20, stay tuned to the National Highways website.
