Chadderton Abduction Attempt Sparks Urgent Police Hunt
Police in Chadderton, Oldham, have launched a desperate appeal after a chilling attempted child abduction near Rose Street on the night of Saturday, July 29, 2023. The terrifying incident took place between 9pm and 10pm, close to the South Chadderton tram stop.
Woman’s Child Snatched Then Released
A woman walking with her child was suddenly confronted by a masked man. The suspect grabbed the child but quickly let go before running off. Thankfully, the youngster only sustained minor injuries.
“It’s deeply worrying,” the mother revealed, also recalling a similar scary event in the area earlier this month.
Suspect Described: Balaclava, Nike Jumper, Dark Clothes
Officers want to speak to a man of Asian descent, medium build, dressed in dark clothing and shoes. He was wearing a balaclava with his lower face visible and a Nike tick on his jumper.
Neighbourhood police have boosted patrols, with beat officers and PCSOs stepping up vigilance to keep locals safe.

The force is calling for anyone with info, CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from Rose Street and the tram stop area between 9pm and 10pm on July 29 to come forward.
