Just after 2.30pm on Saturday, police received urgent calls reporting a man in distress on the bridge. Officers scrambled to the scene and swiftly shut both directions between J2 A228 Sundridge Hill, Rochester and J3 in Chatham.
Man Detained After Risky Stand-Off
The individual was perilously close to falling from the motorway bridge, prompting a full closure as a safety measure. Thankfully, officers managed to detain the man without incident.
Road Reopens as Man Heads for Medical Aid
Traffic has since resumed normally. The man has been taken into medical care for assessment and support after the harrowing episode.
