29-Year-Old Limerick Woman Still in Intensive Care
Scarlett Faulkner, 29, from Northside Limerick, remains in intensive care after a vicious attack on March 21. The terrifying assault happened by the R494 road in Birdhill, where Scarlett was attacked by armed individuals.
Slow Progress as Doctors Reduce Sedation
In a recent video update, Josephine Duffy, partner of Scarlett’s brother Thomas, revealed medics are carefully reducing Scarlett’s sedation. This is crucial to assess her brain function.
“When they tried to reduce the sedation, the brain was swelling,” Josephine said. “So there’s three different sedations to keep her sedated.”
Doctors managed to safely reduce one sedation on Wednesday without causing further swelling. They plan to continue this daily for the next 7 to 10 days, hoping Scarlett will wake up.
“Yesterday was one sedation, today will be a little bit of the other sedation and it will go on like that,” Josephine explained.
Family Calls for Continued Prayers
Josephine described the update as “good news” since the brain swelling has eased. She urged the public to keep praying for Scarlett’s recovery.
“I really think that the prayers are working so please everyone continue to pray and with the help of God in 10 days time we’ll get very good news.”
Two Charged Over Attack, Motive Unclear
A woman and a 16-year-old girl appeared before Tipperary District Court on Wednesday, charged in connection with Scarlett’s serious assault. The brutal attack’s motive remains unclear.
