Dramatic Armed Arrests in Reading

Armed police arrested a teenager and a man in a dramatic stop in Reading town centre on Saturday night. Drivers were forced to stop after police swooped on a car as it came round the roundabout behind The Oracle which links Bridge Street, Southampton Street and the IDR at around 9.40pm on Saturday, June 10. The police helicopter was also hovering over the town after being called to help Thames Valley Police officers with the arrests, which were in connection with a firearms offence in Luton on Thursday, June 8. A 32-year-old man from Harrow and a 17-year-old boy from Caversham were arrested in connection with the incident from a vehicle that was stopped by armed Police. Confirming the incident was not related to terrorism, a police spokesman said on Sunday, June 11 both men had been released with no further action.
