Murder probe launched five years after Kilburn man vanished
Detectives have opened a murder investigation into the disappearance of Robert Duff, 42, who went missing over five years ago. The Kilburn man vanished after failing to show up at his daughter’s 18th birthday party on 12 January 2013.
New Evidence Sparks Murder Investigation
Despite numerous appeals over the years, Robert’s whereabouts have remained a mystery—until now. Fresh information from a recent appeal has prompted police to upgrade the case from a Missing Person" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">missing person to a murder inquiry. Two men, aged 70 and 51, were arrested in Archway, London, on suspicion of murder but later released under investigation.
Police and Family Plead for Answers
Detective Chief Inspector Luke Marks, heading the investigation, said:
“It has been over five years since Robert was last seen. Every day, his loved ones have had to live without answers. We urge anyone with information from 12 January 2013 to come forward, no matter how small it may seem. This new evidence has put us on a different path, but the search for the truth continues.”
Helen Duff, Robert’s mother, spoke of her heartbreak:
“Robert’s disappearance has always weighed heavily on our minds. We hoped he would come back, but now that this is a murder investigation, that hope is gone. We just want Robert back so we can grieve together.”
