Armed Crackdown on Knife-Wielding Suspect
On Friday 17th December, specialist firearm officers swooped on Shanklin after reports of a man brandishing knives and threatening locals.
Backup swiftly arrived, including additional firearms units flown in from the mainland – a quick trip thanks to specialist transport. Don’t worry, there are also firearms officers based right on the Isle of Wight.
Benjamin Entwistle Busted for a String of Offences
Benjamin Entwistle, 34, from Shanklin, was charged and remanded in custody on the evening of 18th December. He faced seven offences in court the very next day:
- Common Assault
- Affray
- Possession of a bladed article in public
- Possession of cannabis
- Racially aggravated public order offence
- Two further public order offences
Police Praise Quick Action and Community Support
Officers worked tirelessly, interviewing victims and witnesses, and gathering crucial evidence to take Entwistle off the streets fast.
“His behaviour is unacceptable and won’t be tolerated anywhere – especially his threats towards NHS staff who are working so hard right now,” said the police team.
