The dramatic moment after a car loses control and wipes out telephone pole in Portchester

The dramatic moment after a drunk driver loses control and wipes out a telephone pole     Police have arrested a drunk driver after he lost control of his vehicle and ploughed into a telegraph pole on Westlands Grove in Porchester on Sunday afternoon. Police closed the road after the vehicle turned narrowly missing a garden wall and smashing into the pole. Many of those in the road lost telephone and broadband services and cables lay draped dangerously across the road. The road remained closed at both ends whilst Police recovery contractors removed the damaged vehicle and Openreach removed the Pole Twenty homes lost services for most of Sunday whilst BT Openreach carried out emergency repairs to make the pole safe and restore services. The driver who was a man was breath-tested at the roadside and failed. He was arrested and charged with driving over the limit and was taken Portsmouth Police station. The local man has since been charged with being over the drive limit (Drink driving) and will face court at a later date.
